Triund is one of the most popular trekking in Himachal’s Dharmashala. In this blog will take you to the most thrilling adventure where you see surreal experiences throughout the journey. At one point of time, you feel like walking in heaven, but there are a few points which need to be taken care.
Let’s begin the journey and explore the thrilling trek to Triund with your travel partner – Hema….
If you are travelling from Delhi-NCR or Chandigarh, then you can plan it on the weekend. We booked a bus from Gurgaon, Haryana and as I said in my previous blog, prefer nighttime to travel. We reached Dharmshala next day in the morning and hired a taxi to reach Mcleodganj where we booked our hotel for stay.
Triund Trekking is one day trek, better to start in the morning. We hire a taxi from Mcleodganj to Dharmakot, which is not so far from McLeod. You can find a guide for trekking who charged around 1500/- but that was not worth it. When we started our trekking, we found we had wasted our money.
Triund Trek in Forest Trail
At the early stage we felt Triund Trek is not so difficult, but we were wrong. At beginning the trekking was smooth, the dense oak forest and plain pavements. Walking on plain area is not difficult, and the place looks like a scenery, but it was real.
A real Dense Forest filled with Oak and Pine tree, as we moved ahead, we found ourselves in a completely different place.
Rock Stone at Triund Trekking
The forest trekking is over, and here we are amidst the huge Rocks without walkway. Then we realize, there is no walkway, and we must jump from one to the other.
Trekking on Rock Stone was extremely difficult, and we were gasping. Then we found goats, actually the Furry Goats gazing at green grass and their walk took my eyes off.
Scenic View of Dhauladhar Range on Trekking
After crossing Triund’s Rock Stone Trek, we took our eyes at the surrounding, and we feel here we are amidst the Dhauladhar Range. To gaze at the beautiful and best view of Dhauladhar Range you don’t need to trek far.
After a short trek of Triund, the best views are visible, and you can resist taking a setback and watch the surreal view.
Steep Triund Trekking
When I planned for trekking, I heard trekking at Triund is not so difficult and it’s of only 4 kms (one way). If you have the same sort of imagination, then guys, let me tell you it’s steep trekking. When you trek for around 2 kms, there is a café, Magic View, and that place is halfway point.
I would advise you to take a break here, get some food for energy. After this point the trekking takes turnback and you need plenty of water and tons of energy to reach destination.
Sunset View from Triund Trek
The trekkers took a lot of pain to reach the Triund Trek and gaze at the amazing sunset view. The view from this point is surreal, as the sunsets, sky filled with orange and golden colour.
You feel like you are standing at the top of the mountains, close to sky and in the lap of nature.
Camping at Triund
Most of the trekkers planned for camping at Triund, if you are planning the same, I’ll advise you for advance booking. If you thought to book at the last moment, then it will be a pain for you. Forest Rest House and Tents are available, both give amazing experience. The accommodation is reasonable at Triund, the cost of Tent for 2 person is approximately 1000/- with sleeping bag.
Most of the trekkers wake up early morning at Triund for Dharmakot and the trek distance is around 5.5 kms. But we decided to reach back to the point, because we have limited days to spend.
While returning to make a grip on the surface, pressure is needed. We can say that both are difficult, but yes, the way back to Mcleodganj is more feasible than going to Triund.
Best Season for Triund Trekking
The best season for Triund Trekking is summer and spring season. The weather conditions are incredible between March to June, one warm top is enough to carry. We trekked in July, which is not such a favourable month, but this year, the weather favoured us.
Guys, please ignore trekking in monsoon season, you can’t walk on steep, and I think, government would not advise too to explore Triund.
