Places to visit in Kanatal Uttrakhand
Kaudia Forest
A thick dense forest filled with pine and deodar trees, valleys and various kind of species especially wild animals. Those who love trekking and hiking can explore the natural beauty of Kantal, Uttrakhand. Kaudia Forest is a famous picnic spot, especially for family and friends. You can also enjoy the Uttrakhand Kanatal Kaudia Forest through Jeep also.
Recently I visited Kaudia Forest for Hiking, and the experience was commendable. The timings for hiking is 6:00 am and 7:00 pm. The sunset turned the colour of sky from blue to orange or can say Bhagwa Rang. The charge of hiking is 300/- per person and you need to pay the Forest Charges also which is only 50/- per person.
Surkanda Devi Temple

The famous temple of Goddess Sati is situated near Kaddukhal which is only 24kms from Chamba Town. As per Hindu Mythology, it is believed that the head of Goddess Sati falls in this temple. Surkanda Devi Temple is among one of the 51st Shaktipeeth which is situated around the dense forest, the Himalayan’s around the temple gives picturesque view.
In my visit, I planned to walk but roads are not so good, and the paths are damn hard to walk. You can enjoy the Ropeway services to reach the temple and take a splendid from the height. At the temple, the idols of Lord Hanuman, Lord Shiva, Agni Kund, Bhairav Baba is situated.
Tehri Dam
The Uttrakhand’s artificial Tehri Dam reservoir is a popular destination for the tourist who loves boating. The tranquil beauty and peaceful destination is perfect gateway for the tourists. To fill the artificial dam reservoir the Bhagirathi River diverted towards the dam.
Tehri Dam is made for tourist, and you can enjoy various sports activities over here like, Paddle Boating, Chappu Boating, Jet Skies, Parasailing, Zorbing and many more options are there. There are islands in the middle of dam, you can reach there by doing boating and clicks photographs while enjoying the view.
Dhanaulti Eco Park
The Dhanulti Eco Park is a famous tourist spot which was developed by the Divisional Forest Officer and the people of Dhanaulti. The Dhanaulti Eco Park housed several deodar and cedar forest. The adventurous and nature lover people enjoys the nature walk at Dhanaulti Eco Park.
In Dhanulti Eco Park, the activities are there which can be performed under the supervisor and those activities are chargeable. The statues of animals look like real and after reaching at heights, the immense beautiful view from the top of the view mesmerized you. The charges of visiting the eco park is Rs. 50/- per person. Please do carry cash, as they don’t accept UPI and Cards.

If you want to enjoy the beauty of Uttrakhand’s Kanatal and interested in the activities, then April to October is the ideal time to visit Kanatal Uttrakhand. But if you want to witness snowfall, then December to February is the best time to visit Kanatal Uttrakhand.

How to reach Kanatal Uttrakhand
- By Air: Jolly Grant Airport. The airport is 92kms from Kanatal Uttrakhand, you can take taxi or cab to reach kantal which will take hardly 3 hours.
- By Train: Dehradun and Rishikesh Railway Station are quite near from Kantal, Uttrakhand. If we calculate the distance from Kantal, then the distance will be around 85kms and 75kms respectively.
- By Road: Kanatal, Uttrakhand is well connected with Mussoorie – Chamba Road. You can also take luxury buses to reach the major stations like Dehradun, Rishikesh, Chamba, Mussoorie, and from these major cities, you can take taxi or buses to reach Kanatal, Uttrakhand.

Kanatal is an amazing hidden gem around Mussoorie/ dhanulti area. Serene and quiet. We stayed at Cosmo Cottages during our stay the views from the property are amazing.
