Kaas Plateau, locally known as “Kas Pathar” or “Plateau of Flowers,” is situated 25km away from Satara, Maharashtra, in the Western Ghats. Kaas Plateau (Kas Pathar) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is listed under the Protection Working Circle. A century ago, Kaas Lake was built in 1000 hectares, aim of protecting 850+ species of flowering plants and to protect the biodiversity. The lake is a persistent source of Water supply for the western part of Satara city.

The Kaas Plateau (Kas Pathar) blossoms in the monsoon season between late August to early October. The plateau bursts with exotic species of flowers grown in various vibrant colour. There are hundreds of species, but the famous one is Topli Karvi species, which grows after every 7 years.
Best Time to Visit Kaas Plateau

Kaas Plateau (Kas Pathar) is visited during the blooming season, and in 2025, Kaas Plateau is expected to bloom in the last week of August. On weekends, the number of visitors rises at Kas Pathar, so avoid visiting on holidays and weekends.

Entry & Booking Details – Kaas Plateau

Kaas Plateau (Kas Pathar) allowed only 3000 visitors per day in different slots
- 7.00 am to 11.00 am – 1000 visitors
- 11.00 am to 3.00 pm – 1000 visitors
- 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm – 1000 visitors (For this slot, reporting time is 3.00 pm to 4.00 pm compulsory)
The entry fee at Kaas Plateau has not yet been disclosed by the tourism department. The estimated charges are between Rs. 100/- to Rs. 150/- per person. So far, the https://www.kas.ind.in/ has not opened online booking lines. You can directly purchase at the ticket counter.
Places to Visit Around Kas Plateau

There are lakes, waterfalls, temples, and a fort to visit around Kas Plateau. You can add below tourist points to your trip:
- Kumudini Lake: A shallow lake filled with rare flower species is situated near Rajmarg.
- Bhambawali Vajrai Waterfall: A beautiful waterfall surrounded by forest falls from a height of 260 meters. The waterfall is situated at Bhambawai village and south of Kas Plateau.
- Boat Club: Boat Club is only 12 km away from Kas Plateau and an entry to the famous Vasota Fort. The club offers various water sports activities.

- Vasota Fort: The fort is in the basin of Koyana Dam, and the Boat Club is in the backwater of the dam. To visit the fort, you need permission from the Forest Department. The fort is situated at a height of 1150 feet above sea level, so wear sports shoes while trekking.
- Ghatai Devrai: This temple is the Gram Devta of locals and is situated in the land of forest.
- Shri Kshetra Yewateshwar: A thousand-year-old temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is a must-visit place. The temple is only 4-5 km from Satara city.
- Kas Lake & Dak Bunglow: The lake was built 100 years ago for the citizens of Satara. The supply system of water is by gravity, and the lake is also a lifeline of Satara city.

- Ekiv Waterfall: A splendid waterfall in the village of Ekiv, around 28km from Satara district.

In the flowering season, the rooms book so fast, so I would advise you to book beforehand.
How to Reach Kaas Plateau
Kaas Plateau is under a protection circle; thus, private vehicles are not allowed on the plateau. If you are carrying your vehicle, park at the entry gate and take the official shuttle service. If you love walking, then take a walk in nature.

- By Air: Nearest Airport is Pune International Airport, which is approximately. 140 km away. You can either take a bus to Satara, a budget option, or else, hire a private taxi.
- By Train: The nearest Railway Station is Satara Railway Station, only 25km away from Kaas. The station is well connected to Mumbai, Pune, and Kolhapur by rail. The local taxis and buses are available from Satara Railway Station.
- By Road:
- If you are travelling from Mumbai, the distance is only 280 km, which can be covered in a 6–7-hour drive. From Pune, it’s only 140 km with a drive of 3.5 hours.
